Bookshop and Cafeteria at Mumac, the Museum of the Coffee Machine

The project concerns the design of the new bookshop and cafeteria for Mumac Museum in Binasco, Milan.

At the Museum entrance, a single long furniture piece of curved Zebrano timber accompanies the visitor along the exhibition path. Its tubular section is modulated in length to perform the function of ticket desk, window display, storage and waiting seat.

The museum bookshop is located in the back, facing the entrance.

It consists in a flexible display designed to combine the exposition of books, gadgets and merchandising objects and tools related to the preparation and consumption of coffee.

Lighting techniques and background/support materials characterize the display system.

A dedicated packaging and visual merchandising project

The display project was also focusing into a packaging and visual merchandising dedicated design.
A modular system of display cases to house cups, coffee tools and accessories.

Cafeteria, an iconic place for preparing and consuming coffee

The cafeteria is conceived as the museum’s meeting and socializing area, located at the end of the museum visit. It has been designed as iconic space of coffee preparation and consumption, with functions of bar and place for didactic coffee workshops. His counter has been specifically organized for laboratory activities such as brewing, latte-art and tasting.
