asiago
2015
The competition project aims at the tourist enhancement of the Asiago historic centre.
The design strategies are ranging from the improvement of the main urban traffic junctions, to the enhancement of the squares and the commercial course, to the cultural re-evaluation of the link between the city and its mountain environment.
The project is suggesting to use the little town nightscape as cultural and touristic attraction, trough the enhance of the starry sky in its natural dark mountain surround where two important astronomical observatories take place. The design strategy includes a specific public ground grazing lighting system and low-level heritage lighting on the city facades.
Design adopted urban strategies:
1. narrowing of the Corso carriageway
2. offset of the roadway to inhibit vehicle speed
3. insertion of a system of islands, furnishings and urban greenery aimed at socializing
4. stopping points enhanced by ponds and fountains
5. respect for the starry sky through an orientation and grazing lighting system
6. low luminance architectural lighting system for historic buildings
The project includes a strategy for the extension of the pedestrian walkway to the new Prison Museum, with the design of a new square and a new access proposal.
